Inner Piety and Outer Piety, two pretty self-explanatory things if you ask me, but only if you know what its means to be pious. To be pious devotedly religious, to do everything you're told in your religion.
What is inner piety?
Being a good Muslim/Christian/Buddhist etc. It’s about following the rules from the inside of yourself and from your heart.
What is outer piety?
Being a good Muslim/Christian/Buddhist from the outside; dressing as your religion tells you and acting pious but not from within, not from the heart.
People often mistake inner piety for outer piety but truly what’s more important? Outer piety is looking the part whereas inner piety is feeling and being the part.
For me the most important thing is inner piety, but a lot of people assume that just because someone looks and dresses like a Muslim then they must be a good Muslim, but that's not always the case. Someone could wear the hijab and not pray and although praying isn't the only thing that would make someone a Muslim it's still one of the most important. That doesn't mean that everyone wearing the hijab isn't a good Muslim or is a liar, it means that there is no reason for someone to look the part if you're not going to act the part.
you cant just assume just because someone wears the hijab that they are a perfect Muslim and you cant just assume that because someone doesn't wear a hijab they aren't a good enough Muslim.
Being a hijabi or a pir or a imaam doesn't automatically make you a good Muslim because at the end of the day those words are just titles, they're just labels.
We can only see what's on the outside of a person, people show us what they want us too see and we can't know whats on the inside of someone, their true intentions and actions, the only one who truly knows is god.

It was quite nice reading this, to hear your views and to see that this is a matter close to your heart. I think these topics are always quite interesting. It really makes one wonder what constitutes as a good devotee? I think inner piety should be the main focus because what’s the point if you don’t have an inner peace that gives you a positive connection with God? If you can’t find some sort of inner peace more than often you can’t execute outer peace & that reflects in the way you treat others and your intentions. It’s also quite easy to see why some may focus on outer piety, it’s so easy to get caught up on social…
