Mini Rant

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. Sorry for not posting last week i had a bit of a writer's block and couldn't think of anything to write.

So for today's post i'm going to be doing a little rant. The weather in the UK has been AMAZING recently but how can you enjoy it when you have nothing to wear? As you may know i am a Muslim and my family is quite strict so dressing modestly is quite a struggle. Many Muslim girls have this struggle where they aren't allowed to wear tops and pants due to religious reasons which is totally understandable but what alternative do these girls have? Dresses have to be a certain length so they don't reveal anything and pants have to be baggy but how can we dress modestly when the country we live in doesn't cater to our religious needs. Muslims have lived in the UK since before the 16th century, in fact it's been over 300 years since the first large group of Muslims moved to the UK.

I was shopping online today for some dresses that i can wear over the summer and couldn't find a single decent dress that had a high neck or long sleeves. Fashion today is the complete opposite of modest and it's not fair. For retailers it's easy to keep up with fashion trends and incorporate some modest fashion too but they just don't. This makes it a lot harder for us Muslim women to fit into western culture. Being Muslim in the 21st century is hard enough as it is and this just makes it so much worse. Either a dress is see-through, or it's too fitted or it's too short for us to wear.

All people wear now are body-cons and mini dresses and that's perfectly fine, but there are other people that buy from these sites and it would really increase the amount of people who bought their clothes if they were more ethnically and religiously diverse!

On the off chance when i do find an appropriate dress that's nice the prices are sky high so it's hard to buy them, especially when you're a student and aren't earning anything.

Basically what i'm trying to say is clothing retailers should try to incorporate more modest clothing into their stock so people that wish to dress modestly can do so without having to layer.

Thank you guys for reading this post, what are you thoughts and opinions on this? Do you think i'm exaggerating or do you agree with me? Let me know in the comments and share this with someone that you think will agree. I know this rant is quite short but i just wanted to quickly write it and tell you guys how i feel about it because if i started to write this properly it could go on for days!
